Of Ice and Movement – an exhibition at Galleri Mejan in Stockholm 8-12 August
Press and invitation for the new exhibition by Pär Strömberg
Of Ice and Movement, and with time thru history, the landscapes around us has been shaped and re-shaped long before we habitat the earth. Human presence has then slowly but surely increased the decline of nature.
In this presentation, in the middle gallery, at Galleri Mejan, Pär Strömberg will be showing a series of work that has developed during his past year as a project student at The Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.
In several different techniques, Strömberg is exploring three different, yet related, images of mountain landscapes. From a large scaled oil painting and it’s small stone-lithography sibling via a couple of mountain top charcoal drawings to a cave, which appear in three different versions, two offset-lithographies and a watercolor painting. There are some repetition and slight shift of focus in the images. Some are reversed or mirrored, and there is a hint of a twilight memory of the landscapes past. The tone is, as always, rather dark and somber, but with hope of a new dawn.
